About Councilman Foster

A seasoned public servant, community leader, and Vietnam-era veteran of the United States Army, Councilman Jonathan Foster, Sr.'s life clearly displays an unbridled commitment to the people of Amite, LA and beyond. Councilman Foster holds the distinction of having served 28 consecutive years on the city council (including formerly serving as Mayor Pro-Tempore). Outside of his elected roles, Foster's commitment to service is also readily apparent through his 20-year career as a both a former Amite City police officer and staff member of the VA Hospital in New Orleans, LA.

 

Following his military service, Foster pursued post-secondary education at Southern University of Baton Rouge majoring in Kinesiology. Jonathan is the proud father of one son, Jonathan Foster II (Yvette), grandfather of one grandson and an active member of his longtime church home, Greater Community C.O.G.I.C. in Amite, LA.
